What Chopda Pujan is
Chopda Pujan, also called Sharda Pujan, is the worship of the new books of account. Lakshmi is invited for prosperity, Ganesh for a clear start and Saraswati for sound judgement. Shubh and Labh are written on the opening page with a Swastik, and the first entry is made afterwards. Many businesses now place a laptop or ledger software beside the books.
Choosing the Choghadiya
Each day and each night is divided into eight Choghadiya. Amrit, Shubh and Labh are the favourable ones, and Chal is acceptable. The windows listed here are the favourable Choghadiya that fall while Amavasya continues in your city, with any Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda or Gulika Kaal overlap removed.
How the puja is done
- Place the new books on a clean cloth facing east or north.
- Write Shri, Shubh and Labh and draw a Swastik on the first page.
- Offer puja to Ganesh, Lakshmi and Saraswati within the chosen Choghadiya.
- Make the first entry only after the puja is complete.
